Lil Durk has pleaded not guilty to federal charges related to a 2022 shooting targeting rival rapper Quando Rondo. At a Los Angeles federal court hearing, the Chicago rapper was formally charged with conspiracy, murder-for-hire, and firearms offences. These charges stem from an attack at a gas station where Rondo survived, but his friend, Lul Pab, was killed in the crossfire.
The charges allege Durk, whose legal name is Durk Banks, orchestrated the attack as retaliation for the 2020 murder of his close friend, rapper King Von. Prosecutors claim Durk put out a bounty for Rondo’s death and directed his “Only The Family” (OTF) crew—a group the government describes as a criminal gang—to carry out the hit. Several co-conspirators, including OTF members Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, and Asa Houston, face charges for their involvement.
Documents also reveal that the attackers booked flights to Los Angeles using Durk’s credit card, allegedly linked to his former manager and father. Prosecutors cite a text allegedly sent by Durk warning others not to book flights under his name, as well as lyrics from his 2022 track “Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy,” which they argue reference the shooting and his intent to profit from Lul Pab’s death.
If convicted, Durk faces life in prison. He is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles and will appear before the court next month to discuss bail ahead of his January trial, which may be delayed.
